The 13th Floor Elevators

This is one of my favorite records of all time. The ultimate psych album, the music smells like pot. I put it in the same class as The Piper At the Gates of Dawn by Pink Floyd and Da Capo by Love (minus the b-side). There are so many great songs here that it's easier to list the two I don't like as much (Reverberation and Monkey Island) then to list all the great ones. Roky Erickson's voice is amazing, it's the thing that makes this such a great listen time after time, year after year. Such a great voice, beautiful and demonic at the same time.

I really like the other 13th Floor Elevators stuff as well as most of Roky's solo stuff but this is the masterpiece and everyone should own a copy. Buy it here: The Psychedelic Sounds of the 13th Floor Elevators
